I was minding my own business doing some DS106 work on campus on Friday afternoon in the ITCC, when Janaye and Mariam caught my attention and asked if I would be willing to help their group, House of Noir. I happily obliged. Then, they said I could get a few points of extra credit! Hooray! They let me know my assistance wasn't immediately required, and they would...

So, this week was actually quite a bit of fun up until this Sunday night. I finished all of my work by 10:30 this evening. But that's where trouble started. First, it was my 30 MB YouTube upload for my video essay that took an absolutely ridiculous amount of time to upload, then my videoessay post went awry three separate times. So, I deleted it....

...for the week to go to training at her new job. She left me here with our little one, who does not keep quiet or entertained for long periods of time. I  resorted to dispensing Funyuns and drinks galore, as well as turning Blaze and the Monster Machines on repeat to pull myself away from the noise in order to create this sorry excuse for a...

It was odd listening to the "Noir We There Yet?" broadcast. There were a number of people listening in, but that's where my memory starts to get foggy. I personally noticed something about it that I hadn't previously: I included Bozzo's name where it should have been DeMartino during the traffic accident report. As far as specific comments about it, I can only remember someone...

Though this daily create was simple, I appreciated it very much. Hesitation regarding reading my own poetry aloud is yet another self-imposed barrier that DS106 has now helped me break down.  Here I am reading my rainy day poem, "You Don't Have to Go Away": https://soundcloud.com/spencerscott1990/you-dont-have-to-go-away The process was simple enough. I went to my closet (my preferred recording area), opened my project from yesterday,...

After spending a ridiculous amount of time on my LEGO stop motion short film, I peeked into the assignment bank hoping for something quick and easy. I'm terrible with video editing on the whole and was rather pressed for time, so I decided to give the "Return to the Silent Era" assignment a whirl. I decided on making a silent trailer for the upcoming movie...

This week, I spent a long time planning. I saw the "30 Second Documentary", and decided to plan for a stop motion LEGO assignment. "The Last Bit Lost" is about the most tragic time in Donnie Rawlen's life--when his family was killed in a train accident. In order to account for the requirement of incorporating another student's character, I opted to blame the circumstance on...

Dear rainy days, You don't have to go away. -Spencer For my first of two daily creates this week, I chose the "Rainy Day 1".  The requirements were simple enough: "Write a poem about a rainy day. What makes you love or hate rain?". Considering it was raining. and I was taking a break from building some little set pieces for a stop motion LEGO...

This week, I listened to Inside Job, I mean Inside Talking.  It was in the format of a typical talk show, and seemed, overall, like: "I'm just gonna wing it" sounds like the theme of the show. Very effective, actually. #ds106radio #noir106 — Spencer Scott (@spencer_cscott) March 17, 2015 I tuned in a bit late, missing the first few minutes of the show for personal...
